Be creative, Babu tells journalists

KOCHI: The two-day Young Journalist Camp, under the auspices of the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board got under way here. Excise Minister K Babu inaugurated the camp, which is aimed at creating awareness among the youth about the new trends in journalism.
In his inaugural speech, Babu said journalists should have to be creative. The journalists should also adhere to the ethics of journalism while reporting, he said and added that the new trend seen is that the journalists are more after sensational news. 


He also noted that the camp was being held as part of the 100- day programme of the UDF Government. He claimed that the government was able to fulfill almost all the programmes that have been proclaimed in the 100-day programme. The Attappadi and Chengara packages, relief packages for the endosulfan victims, Kochi Metro and Smart City had all been initiated, he added.
Ernakulam District Panchayat president Eldos Kunnapally, Kochi Corporation Councilor Gracy Joseph and Youth Affairs secretary Raju Narayana Swamy were present among others. Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Tribes and Youth Affairs P K Jayalakshmi would give away certificates to the participants on Friday.
