KANNUR: The marches organised by the DYFI to the taluk offices, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for his alleged involvement in the palmolein deal, caused tension in the district on Friday.
The marches to the taluk offices at Taliparamba, Thalassery and Kannur ended up in a scuffle with the police. The DYFI workers tried to break the police cordon at Kannur and Taliparamba taluk offices.
At Taliparamba, they also tried to enter the office. Some of the protesters managed to enter the premises of the offices at Kannur and Thalassery causing tension in the area. The police had made elaborate security arrangements to maintain peace in view of the marches.
