Girl found in railway track: Accused held

Thrissur: The police on Saturday held the accused in relation to pushing a 15-year-old girl from Odesha out of train. Police held Jithu, who is her relative. Police said girl fell off the train when he tried to snatch the money for m her.

The girl who is now admitted at Medical College Hospital, Thrissur is slowly recovering. She was found with serious injuries on the railway tracks off Thrissur on Monday noon. She was unconscious for some time and is under treatment at the neurology ICU of the Medical College Hospital, doctors said on Wednesday.


The girl, daughter of migrant workers in a ceramic factory in Puthukkad near Thrissur, was found in an unconscious condition on the railway tracks at Chembissery near Thrissur on Monday. She was found during a search conducted on the basis of a complaint from the factory owner that she and her sister had escaped after stealing Rs 14,000.


According to the police, the Odisha girl and her little sister had left Puthukkad on Monday morning. While the elder sister was found on the tracks near Thrissur, volunteers of an NGO had rescued the child from a long-distance train at Ernakulam Junction station 80 km away.
