From an introductory session on August 20—which would be inaugurated at the Government Higher Secondary School Thiroorangadi by the Education Minister PK. The Director of Public Instruction A. Shajahan has asked schools to organize the initial orientation session on any day between August 20 and September 13. During this session parents would be told about ICT-based learning, the activities of the IT Clubs at schools, IT Melas, the VICTERS channel and about cyber security. A special video programme on IT-related activities would be screened at all high schools.
Progressive training in ICT tools—all based on free and open source software—would be given to interested parents from September 17. This training would be organized in batches in such a manner that it does not disrupt the normal functioning of the schools.
A press note issued here by the IT@School project quoted its executive director Anvar Sadath as saying that this initiative, in addition to spreading ICT awareness among parents, would also serve to ensure their support and involvement in bettering the facilities for ICT education in schools.
