Lathika Subash withdraws defamation case against VS

Saturday, August 06, 2011: Lathika Subash on Saturday has withdrawn the defamation case against opposition leader VS Achuthanandan. Lathika said that the case was withdrawn considering VS’s age and also the statement that he has given against the complaint.
Earlier it was reported that Achuthanandan has stated about Lathika that “they are famous, and, if you inquire, you will know how they are famous” during a media briefing in Palakkad that took place on April 3. The remark did not go down well with the Congress leader who filed the complaint with the Election Commission and court as soon as she got to know about it.

In her petition against Achuthanandan, she has claimed that he has violated the code of polls by raising questions at her character and trying to defame her.
She said: “It is unfortunate that a person who is 10 years older than my father has made such a remark”.
Defending himself, Achuthanandan said in this regard that he was just referring to the respectable posts that have been served by Lathika in the past and he has always respected women irrespective of the position they are at.
