KANNUR: CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the practice of leaking out internal deliberations taking place at party meetings has brought disgrace to the party.
Addressing mediapersons here on Saturday, Pinarayi said that there was no truth in most of the leaked out news items appearing in the media but this practice was against the established mode of functioning of the CPM. The CPM state secretary claimed that internal discussions of the party were being leaked out not as a result of the professional skills of the media persons but due to some other reasons. He didn’t go into the details of the issue.
Pinarayi said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy should quit his post as he has to face legal proceedings in the palmolein case on the basis of the observations made by the Vigilance court. He said that Oommen Chandy can’t cling to power citing flimsy reasons. Answering questions, Pinarayi said that there was no confusion in the CPM over the issue.
CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan asked the Chief Minister to leave the Vigilance portfolio on the basis of preliminary reports in this connection. Later, it turned out that Ommen Chandy was bound to step down as Chief Minister in the wake of the comments made by the Vigilance court, he said.
Replying to another question, Pinarayi said that the statement of Berlin Kunhanandhan Nair shouldn’t be taken seriously.
He said that the statements of Berlin had been examined to verify whether they were made by a ‘right-thinking’ person.
He dismissed as baseless reports appeared in the media stating that the state leadership of the CPM had filed a complaint with the central leadership of the party with regard to the recent statements made by Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandhan.
