Sunday, August 7, 2011: Due to a major fire that broke out at Madakkathara substation in Thrissur on Sunday, power supply will be restricted in northern districts of Kerala except Wayanad for a week. Supply will be restricted between 7 pm and 10 pm from today onwards.
A major fire broke out at Madakkathara Substation on Sunday morning around 5:30 am. According to preliminary reports, the fire resulted from explosion in a transformer. Fire Force rushed to the spot and ceased the fire. No causalities have been reported.
