Police question Mary Ancy’s family

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police team investigating the death of Sister Mary Ancy questioned her family members in Tiruvalla on Friday.
The team also found out that the nun was deeply depressed owing to an allergic skin disease that she developed after she used a cosmetic to dye her hair.

A senior police official investigating the case said that based on the initial forensic report and post-mortem report, the police team had reached the conclusion that it was a case of suicide.
The police also ruled out any foul play by saying that if she was pushed into the small underground water tank than there could have been injuries on her body. “There are no injuries or marks on the body which is evident from the post-mortem report. The initial forensic report also ruled out that anyone else could have been involved in the death. There are no circumstantial evidence to prove that it is case of murder. These all points clearly that she ended her life.
Also, she was deeply depressed from August 12 after she developed the allergic skin disease and she was also under medication for sleeplessness,’’ he said.
So far the police team probing the case has questioned more than 40 people in connection with the case. The nun, a teacher at Holy Cross Lower Primary School, was found dead in the underground water tank at the convent on Wednesday morning.
