Fever cases on the rise in Kerala

Friday, September 23, 2011: According to the recent reports, the number of patients being hospitalized with dengue, yellow fever, cholera and rat fever in the state is on the rise.
Three more die of rat fever in the state today. One each died in Kannur, Ernakulam and Cherthala. 27 cases of rat fever have been confirmed in the state so far. 15 in Kasargod, 4 in Kannur, 3 in Thrissur, 3 in Ernakulam, 1 each in Malappuram and Alappuzha. More than hundred persons are undergoing treatment for rat fever in the state.
The health department has also stepped up the preventive measures to curb the outbreak of infectious diseases. Preventive medicines are being distributed in the coastal areas under the monitoring of special medical teams.
