Wednesday, September 21, 2011: Religious rituals, commemoration
meetings and fasting marked the 84th anniversary of the ‘mahasamadhi’ of
Sree Narayana Guru all over the district on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the 84th death anniversary
celebrations of Sree Narayana Guru at Sivagiri. Minister K Babu and many
others attended the function.
Mahasamadhi was observed at the Sree Narayana Gurukulam,
Chempazhanthi. The Sree Narayana Academy, Sree Narayana Samadhi Smaraka
Granthasala and various units of the SNDP Yogam also observed
‘mahasamadhi.’
Sree Narayana Guru lies in a state of samadhi at Sivagiri, Kerala.
Thousands of pilgrims visit here each year, to pay homage to the man who
drastically changed the face of social life in Kerala and is a source
of inspiration for all social reformers.
