Prisoners fight at Poojappura District Jail

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two gangs of prisoners at Poojappura District Jail in Thiruvananthapuram fought each other on Friday leading to the suicide attempt of one inmate.


Convicts in Kannadi Shaji murder case and gang led by Krishna Kumar of Ambalamukku went out of control, as the prison officials resorted to seek the help of police to calm the brawl.


An inmate Sumesh attempted suicide complaining that the jail officials tried to rescue those who initiated the fight. He injured his body himself by using a razor. He was immediately rushed to hospital and brought back after medication. A case was filed against him for suicide attempt.
