Crisis at Malayalam Mission: Atanu Roy resigns


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Eminent artist Atanu Roy on Saturday resigned as the Creative Editor at the Kerala Government sponsored Malayalam Mission (MM). His resignation comes after the Secretary of the Department of Official Language, K. Suresh Kumar, was terminated from the post of the Director.


The Registrar of Malayalam Mission had earlier termed that the appointment of Atanu as Creative Editor was expensive. And the state government has ordered a probe into this, which in turn has provoked Atanu who handed the resignation letter to Chief Minister.


Atanu, a popular Indian artist who served as Art Editor at India Today, has submitted a photograph along with the resignation letter in which he receives an award from Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for his work excellence.


Malayalam Mission a project by the Kerala government to promote the study of Malayalam language and Literature. This programme has been started understanding that the new generation is going away from the language and culture of kerala and this is an attempt to bridge the gap and bring them back.
