KOCHI: Police have filed a case against three persons for spreading fake news about Nipah virus infection, on social media. The case has been registered at Ernakulam Central police station, against Santhosh Arakkal, Mustafa Uthu and Abu Sala.
The police in its routine monitoring of social media came to know that the three persons had posted wrong and misleading information about Nipah.
The police are continuing its probe against people spreading fake news about Nipah. Kochi City Police Commissioner said in a press release on Tuesday that the accounts of people behind fake campaigns will be examined and strong action will be taken against them.
