THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP State general secretary K Surendran has come out to criticise politically the government in the wake of Nipah cases recurring in Kerala after a gap.
“There is no point in calling Kerala Number One. Hard work is needed to face the challenges of the present world. This is what makes Modi and Team different from others. It has been five years since Kerala got the Centre’s permission to start a comprehensive Virology lab in Kerala, besides a Central government Fund of Rs 3.5 crore for the same.
But, the State health department has not done anything to start the lab. Every year the Centre allots a fund for the same. But this fund was withheld two times as the government failed to produce utility certificate. If we have a Virology lab on our own, we could have utilised it for ascertaining a disease and treatment. The idea was to start a lab in Kozhikode Medical College,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Meanwhile, many persons criticised Surendran for making such negative comments when people of Kerala were alarmed and anxious over the possible spread of Nipah virus.
