KOTTAYAM: K C Dominic, security guard of the State Bank of Travancore here, fired his rifle ‘by mistake’ while testing it on Wednesday. The incident has created panic among both the employees and visitors of the bank. The bullet pierced the wooden door of a room inside which the security guard was handling his gun.
The police rushed to the spot. “However, as the bank has not given any complaint we haven’t registered any complaint,” the police said.
The sound of firing drew the attention of a large number of people. .The firing also led to speculations of robbery similar to the one which had took place recently at a jewellery shop near the bank. When contacted, an official in the bank said that it was a case of ‘misfire’. However, he refused to give more details about the incident.
