KOCHI: Even the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KELSA), the mediator between the Apple a Day Properties and investors in the multi-crore scam, has its members who have lost their money after booking apartments with the builders. KELSA sources said there were about 10 members, mostly women, who had invested their money. “Some have invested over ` five lakh for the flat. They have approached KELSA seeking a solution. The KELSA has decided to intervene in the issue as the legal procedures will consume time. There are over 80 people who have complained against the builders to the KELSA,” sources said.
According to P Mohanadas, KELSA secretary, more talks will be held between the investors and the builders under the mediation of KELSA. “The talks are in the initial stage and a solution will be found within a few months. The builders have presented a draft for `50 lakh and a guarantee in the form of a title deed for property worth `4 crore. They have also sought time of two to three years for completion of the work. The list of the investors will be taken and grievances will be recorded soon,” Mohanadas added.
The KELSA may demand completion of the projects as soon as possible.
The agency had recently conducted two rounds of meetings with the builders and the investors. It had also appointed advocate Subhash Chand as mediator to settle the disputes. The Kerala High Court on Monday permitted KELSA to go ahead with its mediation process.
