Sunday, January 01, 2012: Kerala will tomorrow lodge a complaint against the technical experts C D Thatte and D K Mehta, on the stand taken by them while visiting the Mullaperiyar dam.The visit was made due to suspicion over the safety of the dam. The state would file petition on Monday as per the legal advice from Harish Salve. Kerala in its petition will say that CD Thatte and KK Mehta, members of the panel, who visited the dams revoked the court directions and how they ill treated water resources department officials from Kerala.
Earlier the officials of the Kerala Government boycotted the inspection by the Empowered Panel alleging that the panel was not hearing Kerala’s grievances and instead heard the PWD officials from Tamil Nadu. The officials alleged that the Members were supporting Tamil Nadu and not hearing Kerala’s views on the dam issue.
The Kerala officials also alleged that Tamil Nadu had conducted sonic testing at three locations only in a single block in the middle of the dam as against the direction to mark locations covering three different blocks ‘on either side of the dam and the middle.
