Inmate held for prisoner’s death in T’puram

Sunday, January 01, 2012: One prisoner has been arrested after another inmate was found dead in the Thiruvananthapuram Medical college police cell on December 19.
The accused identified as Hakkim was taken into custody by the Medical college police in connection with the death of Sreedharan, another jail inmate, police told. Hakkim was earlier kept in preventive custody under the Goonda act
Further police investigation revealed that Sreedharan was brutally manhandled by Hakkim inside the cell which led to his death. The major breakthrough in the case came when the police interrogated another prisoner who is a native of Bengal.
