SBT donates vehicle to palliative care unit

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Bank of Travancore donated a vehicle to the Palliative care Unit of District Panchayat. The vehicle is for the exclusive use of their Palliative and Cancer care units. An SBT release said here that the services of the unit cover most of the Grama Panchayats in the district and the unit extends palliative care to the critically and terminally ill patients and supports their families. Under the scheme a medical team headed by a doctor visits the house of critically ill and terminally ill persons to provide care and medication, covering various Grama Panchayats and involves extensive travel. The Panchayat offers all services, including medicines, free of cost to the patients. The scheme is being implemented in association with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC).
