Crime branch to probe postal ballot controversy

THIRUVANANTHPURAM: State police chief Lokanath Behera directed crime branch chief to conduct a probe after registering case on the incidents that snowballed in connection with the postal ballot controversy in the police department. After registering the case and lodging the FIR, disciplinary action will be taken against the police officials involved in the incident.

The state police chief ordered the crime branch to conduct a probe specially to examine the general issues related to postal ballot controversy including police officials.

The state police chief had submitted a report of the intelligence department to the chief electoral officer along with recommendation. The decision is in the background of his acceptance of the report.
