NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said the notification excluding Kerala from the priority list of National Highway Development has been cancelled.
Gadkari said the state’s development of the national highway will continue as per the first list. There is no discrimination towards Kerala. The notification was cancelled following the request of Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam.
Many including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had levelled allegation against the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Central Government for stalling the national highways project in the state. He said the centre has a negative attitude towards the development in the state. Pinarayi had asserted that the centre’s action is based on the letter of BJP state chief P S Sreedharan Pillai. The letter purportedly sought staying land acquisition proceedings for NH 66 which passes through the Edappally-Moothakunnam route in Ernakulam.
