THRISSUR: At the end of days of uncertainty, the district administration has given the green signal for parading Gajraj Thechikottukavu Ramachandran.
The district collector on Saturday gave the permission for parading Ramachandran on Thrissur Pooravilambaram day. The public will not be allowed to stand near the elephant. Barricades should be erected at a radius of 10 metre from the elephant.
Four mahouts should always be near the elephant. Ramachandran can be paraded from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Sunday. Earlier, a three-member medical team appointed by Collector T V Anupama had checked the health of Thechikkottukavu and found out that he is healthy and not in musth. They also confirmed that there were no injuries on its body.
The elephant was given a bath in the morning and he was found to be obedient. Later, the collector took a decision to give permission for parading the elephant, based on report submitted by the Medical team.
The high court had considered the petition regarding the parading of Ramachandran for Pooram on Friday. The court instructed that the monitoring committee headed by the collector can take a decision in the case. The health check-up was carried out after this.
