An eight hour hartal called by LDF district committee against the neglect meted out to the district commenced at 6 am today. The hartal has been total and no untoed incident has been reported so far. Vehicles are keeping off the road and commercial establishments are remaining closed. One inter-state KSRTC service took off from Wayanad today morning.
The LDF district committee had pointed out the overall neglect to the district especially to the medical sector in the budget presented by KM Mani, finance minister. The ruling UDF in turn refuted the allegations terming the hartal as politically motivated. The hartal will last till 2 pm
