Investment friendly Kerala says CM

KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the state will be made investment friendly by giving consideration to environment and financially backward people.Inaugurating the golden jubilee of the Kerala State Industries Development Corporation limited (KSIDC), he said that Kerala would be branded as an investment-friendly state before other countries.Chief Minister said that a survey by the World bank in 2005 identified Kerala as second best investment-friendly state in the country. 

But the state went backwards in different sectors, including education, health and investment, in the recent years. “The UDF Government will revive the development wave of 2005 and will make the state an investment-friendly one with consideration given to environment and financially backward people” he stated. “The UPA Government has framed out several development projects but these projects reach its ultimate goal when these services are enjoyed by everyone in the country. 

Unfortunately, this has not happened in the past. But the UDF Government will ensure that the services provided by the government should reach each and every person of the state. Its policies are transparent and the service provided by the government is the right of every person,” he said. He appreciated the labour force in the state and said that the labourers here were skilled and responsible. The only controversy in this regard is on ‘Nokku koolie’ which is being opposed by every political parties.

He opined that the development of the state could be realised when Opposition parties cooperate with the government. “The UDF Government will take Opposition parties into confidence and implement development projects. Politics and factions have no role in the development of a state,” he added.Industry Minister P K Kunhalikutty who presided over the function said that the contribution of KSIDC was phenomenal for the development of industrial sector in the state.He announced rebates in various loan investment. Special rebate for NRI and NRK investors were also announced. KSIDC educational scholarship to 50 girls in the state was distributed by Chief Minister at the function. Oommen Chandy also distributed awards to 50 best entrepreneurs of the state.KSIDC chairman T K Nair, State Planning Board vice-chairman K M Chandrashekar and CII chairman (Kerala) Jose Dominic also took part in the function.
