Attack on scribes: Three accused surrender in Court

Tuesday, July 26, 2011: The three accused in a case relating to the brutal attack on scribes at the LMS compound of the CSI Church in Palayam here on July 14, have surrendered before the Magistrate Court on Monday.
The accused identified as Edwin George, clergyman Evangalist Samuel and Raselian were granted bail by the Court. They had surrendered as per the directive of the Sessions Court.

Reporter Sarath Krishnan and cameraman Ayyappan were attacked when they reached LMS compound to cover a group of protestors who were there to meet the Bishop and hand over a complaint regarding irregularities in admissions made to the Karakkonam Medical College.
The offenders snatched the camera and took away the DV cassette. As a protest against this incident several journalists under the KUWJ took out a march to the LMS compound which turned violent after they clashed with the police.
The police resorted to minor lathicharge in which Indiavision channel bureau Chief Marshal V Sebastian sustain injuries to his head.
