Contempt of court: HC to issue new chargesheet to Jayarajan

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday stated that a new chargesheet would be issued in the contempt of court case against CPM leader MV Jayarajan. The court also directed Jayarajan to appear in person in the court on Friday.

Earlier the Supreme Court has rejected the plea filed by Jayarajan and the Court said that it couldn't stay the proceedings against him in the High Court. The plea demanded a stay on High Court directive to file charge sheet against him in connection with the contempt of court case.

Jayarajan while speaking at a public meeting in July at Kannur criticized High Court Judges for ruling that no public meetings should be held on roads. The High Court had ordered that a charge sheet be filed against MV Jayarajan.
In his appeal, Jayaraj said the charges were issued without even a preliminary hearing and a notice to him. He said he had asked for a CD of the speech he had made and it was not made available to him and principles of natural justice were violated.
