Sunday, July 31, 2011: Elaborate arrangements have been made at the Sree Parthasarathy Temple on the banks of the Pampa at Aranmula for the Vallasadya on Sunday.
Travancore Devaswom Board president M. Rajagopalan Nair will inaugurate this year’s ‘Vallasadya vazhipadu’, an offering to the presiding deity.
On the occasion, K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA, will inaugurate the sale of tickets for the annual snakeboat regatta, Uthrittathi vallamkali, in the Pampa at Aranmula, scheduled to be held on September 14.
The sumptuous feast will be organised on the temple premises by a committee comprising PSS president, secretary, Devaswom assistant commissioner, administrative officer and two representatives of devotees.
Vallasadya is a ritualistic feast offered to the crew of snakeboat (palliyodam), treating them as representatives of the presiding deity, by devotees at the Sree Parthasarathy Temple during the Onam season.
