Doctors’ non-cooperation strike hits hospital services

Tuesday, July 26, 2011: The functioning of government hospitals across Kerala was affected today due to the non-cooperation strike launched by doctors under the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) in connection with the pay revision issues.
The doctors kept off from the specialty OPs in hospitals as a protest against the state government’s move to withdraw from the meeting scheduled yesterday with the KGMOA. It is reported that the government had receded from the meeting since the KGMOA delegates had made public statements.
The specialty doctors are examining the patients outside the OP rooms causing inconvenience to patients. The KGMOA have threatened to go on indefinite strike from July 30 voicing various demands mainly to merge special allowance with basic salary, to increase the allowances of specialist doctors.
