Monday, August 15, 2011: A museum depicting the freedom fighters struggle to achieve Independence will be set up here, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said today. A ‘freedom memorial’ would be set up at Vattiyoorkkavu near here, where the first meeting of Travancore State Congress was held, as part of the plan, Chandy said in his Independence day address.
The government would also try to implement enough changes in the academic syllabus to give greater emphasis to the country’s freedom struggle episode, Chandy added.
