Thursday, August 25, 2011: The Kerala High Court division bench on Thursday cancelled the single bench order to give Rs 75 lakh as compensation to the families of Mangalore air crash victims. The Division bench verdict came on a petition filed by Air India citing the order was illegal. Earlier, the HC single bench ordered to disburse the compensation within a month to the families when considering a petition filed by father of Mohammed Rafi who was killed in the plane crash. During that time Air India officials too welcomed the verdict.
The Mangalore air crash occurred at Mangalore Bajpai airport on May 22, 2010 in which 158 lost their lives.
