Hidden camera row: Pinarayi faction up in arms

The Pinarayi faction of the CPM is up in arms against those who held the hidden camera operation leading to the suspension of its Ernakulam district secretary Gopi Kottamurikkal on charges of 'misconduct'. His exit marks a new chapter in the factional feud of the Kerala unit.

Senior leader MM Lawrence came against this and said it is unfortunate that men inside the party are planning sting operation against their colleagues. If the hidden camera operation took place to trap Gopi, that must be probed.

If there were complaints against Gopi, he must have been questioned or has to be discussed in the committee meeting. Instead of that, collecting information discreetly and using it later is not healthy.

The Pinarayi faction is trying to trap those who had lodged the complaint. They demanded action against the culprit the similar way the state leader was punished by the party for phone hacking as part of factional feud. They pointed out that placing a hidden camera in party office is gross violation of discipline. It is learnt that the senior leader in the district secretariat who had filed the complaint is not well-versed with hidden cameras and would have sought the help of some experts.
