Tuesday, August 2, 2011: A high-level meeting chaired by Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan in connection with the Munnar eviction process would be held here on Tuesday.
The meeting will be attended by the higher officials of the Revenue department and would discuss on the further steps that must to be taken for the conservation of the reclaimed government land. The meeting will also chalk out details on the second phase of eviction drive.
A total of 1,581.99 acres of encroached land in Munnar in Idukki and Wagamon in Kottayam district were reclaimed during the first-phase of eviction drive initiated by the Congress-led UDF government.
The government had recovered 1203.77 acres of land and it is an all time record. Revenue officials have also issued “stop memo” to the owners of five resorts asking them to stop resort construction work as it violated building rules.
Forty-two land related cases were pending in the High court while 15 cases in other courts.
