Come to my House: Pinarayi to Mahasveta

In a reply to her open letter, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has invited Jnanpith award winner Mahasveta Devi to his house to clear off the mystery and her delusion about the party.

In a letter released to the media on Sunday, Pinarayi also used it as an opportunity to justify the remarks of Idukki leader M M Mani, saying “he is a leader raised to that position by toiling in the village level”.

In her letter on Friday, the Bengali writer had said “watching the crude and uncouth character was great fun” and described Vijayan’s house as a mansion, forbidden to the comrades.

Addressing her as “respected sister”, Pinarayi said “There are many who believe that writers are simpletons who can be influenced easily. Many use writers because the words of writers have more influence on the society. You are being misled about the incidents in the state.”

He reminded her of a fake e-mail which labelled a palatial building as the “house of Pinarayi” and she has being misguided by the same trick.

“I had my house renovated. It is not a palace as you have been misinformed. Every detail about it is an open book. There is no need to restrict anybody from visiting my house as it is situated not in any remote island, but in my hamlet,” he clarified.

On Mani, Pinarayi termed the leader’s style as “straight forward and hence may lack the sophisticated and polished urban manners”.
