Expo gives fillip to tourism courses


‘Level Next Tourism Edu Expo-2012’, jointly organised by the Department of Tourism and Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS) at Ernakulam Town Hall saw the confluence of over nine public and private educational institutions offering courses in the travel and tourism sector. 


The two-day expo, showcases various courses in aviation, tourism and hospitality. The courses focus on different areas of skill development ranging from food and beverage catering service, travel and tour consultancy to nature guides and souvenir making.


The Expo is an initiative to create awareness about the growing career opportunities in these sectors apart form the much-preferred  professional courses like medicine and engineering, KITTS Ernakulam Division in-charge Jimmy Kurian said.  He also said that tourism sector offers a bright career for those who have the skill and determination to work hard.  “For a student of tourism studies, the Expo was an eye-opener with an array of job-oriented courses in the hospitality sector being highlighted,” says Saranya, a student of  Siena College for Professional Studies, Edakochi.  Hibi Eden MLA inaugurated the expo on Sunday. Anwar Sadath MLA delivered the keynote address.
