T P murder politically motivated, AG tells HC

Appearing for the state government, Advocate-General K P Dandapani on Tuesday submitted before the Kerala High Court that the murder of T P Chandrasekharan was a politically motivated one.

State made the submission while opposing the  bail applications filed by Onchiyam area committee secretary C H Ashokan and member K K Krishnan.

Dandapani also said that the accused had hatched a conspiracy in 2009 itself and added that the petitioners were arrested as per the legal procedure stipulated by the Supreme Court.

The court, meanwhile, asked the state to produce records indicating conspiracy by the two arrested CPM leaders. Dandapani submitted that the case diary will be produced on Wednesday.

The new revelations that a local CPM leader had threatened in 2010 that TP will be finished off, has made the police more vigilant. The AG also said that the investigation was being done with due care.

The petitioners submitted that there was no material in the remand report to indicate their conspiracy. They had been falsely implicated in the case allegedly following a political conspiracy by the ruling UDF.

The murder was committed at the instance of an unknown businessman, whose bottling plant was opposed by Chandarsekharan, they stated.
