Oppn disrupts assembly proceedings

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition led-LDF disrupted the assembly proceedings seeking the arrest of P K Basheer, the sixth accused in Areekode double murder case. The speaker stopped the proceedings when the opposition was shouting slogans after trooping into the well of the house.

The notice was issued by opposition deputy leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. He alleged that the sixth accused in the FIR is present in the assembly and the home minister who has to issue orders to arrest him is sitting next to him. The chief minister who is above all is sitting in the front row. The DGP in charge of the arrest is sitting in the gallery. He attacked the government for their irresponsible attitude. Is it right to arrest a person just because his name has been included in the station statement, asked Chandy. Expressing dissatisfaction over the statement, the opposition sought the immediate arrest of the MLA present in the assembly.
