KANNUR: The presence of Nipah has not been confirmed on the patient undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ernakulam and circulating such news is wrong, said Health Minister K K Shylaja. Blood samples of the patient have been sent to the National Virology Institute and Manipal. It can be confirmed only after getting the report, she said. Experts say there is only a remote possibility of Nipah. Still, all precautions have been taken. The details of the patient are being probed. There is nothing to worry, she said.
Health secretary and district collector are observing things. The 23-year-old patient has been moved to an isolation ward. The health condition of the patient is satisfactory. It is only a natural process to examine if any of the symptoms are seen. Some cases like these were sent for examination. Everything was negative.
The district collector too had come forward saying that there is no confirmation of Nipah.
