Mansoor Ali Khan Patuadi passes away

Thursday, September 22, 2011: Former Indian cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi passed away in a Delhi hospital on Thursday evening. He was 70.
Pataudi was in the intensive care unit of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, where a team of doctors was closely monitoring him.
Pataudi was the India’s youngest Test captain when he led the side aged 21.
Pataudi, among the game’s finest captains, represented India in 46 Tests, scoring 2793 runs at 34.91 with a highest score of 203*.
Under Pataudi, India achieved won its first Test abroad when they beat New Zealand in New Zealand.
He finished his career with six centuries and 16 half-centuries.
Pataudi was admitted to the hospital on August 29 and had been diagnosed with interstitial lung disease, a condition in which the passage of oxygen to the two lungs is less than normal.
Married to actress Sharmila Tagore, Pataudi has three children including Bollywood stars Soha Ali Khan and Saif Ali Khan.
