Saturday, September 03, 2011: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Kerala. Rain occurred at most places in Lakshadweep.
Heavy rainfall reports in cm are – Piravom (Ernakulam district)10,
Peermade (Idukki district) 9, Hosdurg & Kudulu (both in Kasaragod
district), Munnar (Idukki district), Vadakara (Kozhikode district) &
Vythiri (Wayanad district) 8 each and Kochi AP (Ernakulam district),
Vellanikkara (Thrissur district), Alathur (Palakkad district),
Chengannur & Haripad (both in Alappuzha district), Manjeri &
Perinthalmanna (both in Malappuram district)7 each. Another 49 stations
reported rainfall of 1 cm to 6 cm.
According to meteorology sources here, rain/thundershower will occur
at most places in Kerala and at many places in Lakshadweep. Isolated
heavy rainfall will occur in Kerala during next 48 hours.
Fishermen warning: Strong onshore winds from westerly direction speed
occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph is likely along & off Kerala
coast and over Lakshadweep area during next 24 hours.
