Tuesday, September 06, 2011: The Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court has today ruled out a special probe against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in connection with the alleged corruption in sanctioning an anti-pollution project for Travancore Titanium Products Ltd.
The Court also criticized that the investigation was progressing at a snail’s pace. The Court also directed to submit before the investigation team any further evidences in connection with the case.
The plea indicates that the corruption in connection with the sanctioning of the project is estimated to be Rs 256 crore. The petitioner alleged that were corrupt practices in the purchase of equipment during the tenure of the previous UDF government.
The complaint was filed against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, former Industries Minister V.K. Ibrahim Kunju, company chairman T.Balakrishnan, and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala.
