Wednesday, September 07, 2011: The state government will seek an
assistance of Rs 1,000 crore from the centre to repair roads which have
been damaged due to recent heavy rains in the state, Chief Minister
Oommen Chandy said today.
A preliminary estimate prepared by the state public works department
showed that this amount was needed to carry out repair works, Chandy
told media after a cabinet meeting.
The centre should release the amount under the National Calamity Fund
to the state, he said, adding,”I will take up the matter with the
Centre during my visit to Delhi on September 22 and 23.
