Wednesday, January 4, 2011: The Supreme Court appointed empowered panel on Mullaperiyar ruled out the demand of the state to lower the water level in Mullaperiyar dam to 120 feet as the SC in its earlier order directed to maintain the status quo.The panel said the Supreme Court would take the final decision. The panel has decided to submit the report in SC by February 2.
The report by the technical experts in the panel and petition field by MPs from Kerala to the Prime Minister would be submitted to the Apex court. Prior to that the panel would again meet on January 24 and 25. The panel also accepted in file the compliant filed by Kerala against technical experts who visited the dam.
