Wednesday, January 4, 2011: The Supreme court on Wednesday rejected the plea filed against Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in connection with the palmolein case.
BJP leader Alphons Kannanthanam had on December 15 filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking further probe into Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s alleged role in the 1992 palmolein import case.
In his plea, Kannanthanam had sought for an investigation under the careful monitoring of the Court and also to constitute a special investigation team.
The case related to loss to the tune of Rs 2.32 core allegedly caused to the exchequer by import of palmolein in 1991-1992 when late Congress leader K Karunakaran was the chief minister and PJ Thomas, the Food Secretary and a member of the Board of the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation.
