Wednesday, 04 January 2012: K Ramakrishnan commission, who probed the Cheriyathura firing handed over the report to State Government. The report was handed over to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.The Chief Minister said that the report would be handed over to Home department. The commission to probe the incident was formed on August 9, 2009. The commission took evidence from DGP Jacob Punnoos, the then district collector Sanjay Kaul, RDO K Biju and I G Gopinath.
Cheriyathura riot broke out in May 2009. According to Intelligence report, the police had fired seventy rounds and hurled grenades at the crowd.
