Thrissur: 52nd state school Kalolsavam to begin today
Monday, 16 January 2012: The 52nd edition of the State schools arts festival will be held at 17 venues in Thrissur from January 16 to 22. As many as 10,000 students are expected to take part in 218 competitions.
Contests will be held in the high school (82 events) and higher secondary (98 events) categories. ‘Sanskritosavam’ and ‘Arabic Sahityotsavam’ will have 19 competitions each.
Registration will begin on January 16 at 10 a.m. A cultural procession will be held at 2 p.m. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the festival. Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty, Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb, Cooperation Minister C.N. Balakrishnan, and Cultural Affairs Minister K.C. Joseph are expected to take part in the inaugural function to be held at the Corporation stadium at 4 p.m.
