Low-cost building materials launched

Giving a major boost to the affordable housing dreams of many, FACT-RCF Building Products Limited (FRBL), has launched its first consignment of gypsum- based building material at a function held in Ambalamugal on Friday.

On the occasion, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the company with property developer N M Salim and Associates, for the supply of 15,000 gypsum-based wall panels a year.

FRBL is the joint venture of FACT Ltd and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd (RCF), Mumbai.

The FRBL plant at Ambalamugal has a capacity of 14 lakh square metre per annum.

“Negotiations are taking place with various builders in the state for the aggressive marketing of wall panels and wall plaster,” said a company official.

The FRBL gypwall panel, manufactured from gypsum, has found a niche in the modular modular prefabricated housing market.

“It provides an alternative solution to the traditional concept of house construction. The cost of construction can be reduced by at least 25 per cent by using these panels. Besides the wall panels, FACT-RCF Building Products Limited also produces wall plaster, which brings down the finishing time required for plastering by 60 per cent,” said Sunil Antony, chief product manager.
