Mother hits drunkard son to death

KOLLAM: A mother kills her drunkard troublemaker son by hitting him on on his head with a wooden plank.

Sulbath (55), resident of Punnathadam in Mulavana, killed her son Muhammad Shafi (30) on Wednesday evening when he tried to create trouble in the house and assault the parents.

Shafi was an alcoholic who used to assault Sulbath and her paralysed husband Mustafa.

When Mustafa could not give Shafi the money he asked him of, he tried to assault his bedridden father with a wooden plank. When his mother tried to hold him back, he turned to her.

Sulbath pushed Shafi to the floor and hit him on his head with the plank. He had serious injury and was taken to the district hospital by the neighbours where he succumbed to the injury.

Shafi’s corpse is kept in the district hospital mortuary.

Shafi had a murder case against him in Kottiyam police station relating to the murder of a Navas in 2005.

Kundara police has registered case against Sulbath.
