Satnam Singh assaulted twice

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: New facts on the death of Satnam Singh came to light as the Crime Branch investigation under I G Sandhya progresses.

Information that the mentally deranged youth who created panic in Vallikkavu ashram by attempting to attack Mata Amritananda Mayi was brutally assaulted in the district jail in Kollam by the head warden and others has been revealed to the investigation team.

The group assaulted Satnam outside the cell to evade the CCTV cameras and hence no footages have been obtained.


The accused head warden has come to Kollam before a couple of months on punishment transfer from Poojapura central jail for harassing the wife of an inmate there.

At the same time, the youth had also suffered assault for over an hour from the mental health care centre in Peroorkada for trying to oppose the cutting of his hair and beard which is against his religion. He was refused water when he asked for it.

According to the autopsy report, the cerebral hemorrhage that resulted from the assault  was the cause of death.

The investigation team had visited the mental health care centre on Tuesday to gather evidence.

Five staff members of the health care centre are being questioned now and the team is said to visit the jail soon to interrogate the staff.

Satnam’s body had been taken home on Tuesday.

There  had been talks of  another postmortem the report of which was also to be considered by the  investigation team.

As  his mother disagreed to it, his body was cremated without another autopsy
