KOCHI: The Ernakulam Sessions Court found guilty Sobha John and Bechu Rehman in the Sabarimala tantri case.The court found that the two hatched a conspiracy and blackmailed Kantaru Mohanuru (former priest of Sabarimala). The quantum of sentence will be pronounced tomorrow.
The trial started in September 2011 and 51 witnesses were examined. The conspirators allegedly took photographs of the tantri and a woman in compromising positions and demanded money from the tranti. The episode was Sobha’s brainchild. Bachu Rahman, a criminal, had arranged the goondas, the prosecution submitted. The offences against the accused are criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, rioting, dacoity and destroying the evidence.
