South Zone Junior Athletic Meet: Kerala emerge champions

KOCHI: Kerala recaptured the overall title of South Zone Junior Athletic Meet once again from the regional rivals Tamil Nadu. Host state collected 883.5 point from the three day competitions, while Tamil Nadu collected 796 points Karnataka came third with 493.5 points. Kerala also took home the following sectional championships - Girls 16 (116.5 Points), Youth Girls under 18 (115 points), Junior women under 20 (168 points), Boys under 16 years (104 points), Youth Boys under 18 (155 points).

Four new records were created in the final day. Olivia Ann Maria Thomas of Kerala ran a splendid race to create a new record in 1000m for Girls Under 16. Olivia is training under Mercy Kuttan. .Ebin Sunny vaulted to a new record in pole vault for Youth Boys under 18. Ebin is being trained by Mr. Satheesh of Pala Jumps Academy.

Sri. N Venugopalan, Chairman, GCDA was the Guest of Honour in the Valedictory function. He gave away the trophies to the winners in the presence of Olympian.
